I’m only in chapter five, but I’m being convicted with each word of the book, “Radical.” How have I missed the meaning of “making disciples” in nearly twenty years of walking with Jesus? David Platt, author of “Radical” is challenging me to intentionally and patiently walk alongside of a small group of people, just as Jesus did with His twelve disciples.
“Live for them. Love them, serve them, and lead them. Lead them to follow (Jesus,) and lead them to lead others to follow (Jesus.) In the process you will multiply the gospel to the ends of the earth.” Wow. Page 93 wins for words highlighted thus far!
It’s like having a dozen children who we love so deeply we can’t get them out of our hearts or minds. We care so much about their daily lives that we’re willing to sacrifice our time, talents, and treasure if necessary in order to show them what Jesus meant when He said, “…go and make disciples of all nations.” If we impact twelve people who impact twelve people each, who, in turn, impact twelve people each, we can change the world.
Love. Serve. Lead. It’s so simple and so powerful. I’m praying for God to reveal the “future disciples” He has selected for me. Are you ready to have Him reveal your disciples to you? Are you looking for people to love, serve and lead closer to Christ? Rest up, because He’s going to send someone (or more someones) to you soon.
